imaginative play

Postby jsimms435 » Tue Nov 15, 2016 12:59 pm

I've noticed that some articles I have read online say that kids with autism have difficulties with imaginative play or play is often repetitive or acting out movies the child or person sees. I have noticed that a person who I see occasionally seems to have a lot of imaginative play that seems violent. Some of it seems to be acting out movies he has seen. Some of the play is way over the top and seems to take on a characteristic where the person acts as though it is real. He also seems to have an obsession with police, though I don't know of any personal interactions he has had with legal issues or police.
I am wondering how much is the it likely that some of the violent play could cross over into violent actions? So far this has not happened.
