Help! Re: Culturelle

Postby dgdavis64 » Mon Dec 12, 2005 9:17 pm

I just got this probiotic in the mail and it says on the label it was cultured on milk casein and whey? Should I send it back? Is there more than one kind of this stuff and I got the wrong kind? I recently found out I should've been rotating the probiotics so I got this one to start next week.

PS This is posted on the Support forum and I decided to post it here where it should've been in the first place.

I know that it is grown in casein and it DOES contain a minute amount. However, my son (who reacts badly to dairy) does not react badly to Culturelle (1 a day -- he's 28-29 pounds, 2 1/2 years old). We rotate with other probiotics (however we've recently stopped probiotics for a short while after starting NDF-plus).

I've seen from DAN! conference notes that docs in the sessions say that Culturelle is a recommended probiotic. It's also the only manufacturer with Acidophilus GG, which Dr. Shaw recommends in "Biological Treamtments for Autism and PDD."

Hope this helps.

Thanks Gary! I thought I bought the wrong kind or something and I'm so glad I won't have to waste money on shipping.

I guess this scary feeling won't go away until after I give them their first dose of this. I just can't imagine them not having a BAD REACTION. I went through the same thing when I put clarified butter (ghee) on their toast for the first time.

Well, my son can tolerate ghee as well, so keep a close watch on things.

Gary - I'm curious as to why you stopped probiotics when starting up NDF+? Any feedback you have would be helpful.

Thanks,
Martha

This was per Bio Ray's recommendation. Here's a post from Tami W., who is sort of the resident expert with NDF/NDF plus.
