Culturelle, Gut Bacteria and TH1 Immune Response

Postby Flowergirl » Wed Dec 21, 2016 12:35 am

If stool testing shows some gut bacteria (Citrobactor Youngae),
is it still advisable to take Culturelle (without Inulin)? I know one
wants to bypass the stomach and small intestines to get the Probiotic
into the lower intestine. We don't want to increase any stomach or
small intestinal bacteria. We're uncertain at this point it there is SIBO,
and no symptoms of it right now are present, except possible upper gut
bacteria. I guess that's not the same thing, but is in the stomach?

It seems that there's a bunch of bad bacteria (Citrobactor Youngae,
Enterotoxigenic E-Coli, Salmonella and Proteus Mirabilus somewhere
in the gut. High numbers of bacteria indicate a Th1 Immune Responce.
There has been no symptoms or side effects to Probiotics so far that
we're aware of, but most people that are Th1 Dominant don't take
many Probiotics. The one in Culturelle seems to increase the Th1
Dominance. Also, we have used Gutpro that has a lot of some other
strains that aren't favorable to Th1 response.

The literature I saw on Th1 response seems to favor Prebiotics,
but I am a bit leery of them due to possible upper gut bacteria.
There's a very low count on beneficial bacteria, but what can we
safely take to raise those numbers anfd get the bacteria where it
belongs?

Any other good Probiotics that have the right strains in them?

Where did you get the test and who told you Citrobactor Youngae was bad in the stool test?

flower did you do the Genova CDSA? you could try Buhner protocol (all about herbs) just started now so don't have much experience but already seen progress but admittedly it's a bit complicated - this probably answers more your other thread than this one

Wrt the beneficial bacteria the only probiotic that helped us is the Symprove, it's a liqyid formula that is guaranteed to reach the gut and for the first time we had lots of good bacteria on the last stool test.... Not sure they sell where you are though

H Nikkie111 Can you tell me what improvements have you seen in the Symprove probiotic?
