suggestion on report, supplements - Trips to doctor

Postby miraclev25 » Tue Jun 13, 2017 1:14 am

our boy is 4 years with moderate language+echolia. When diagnosed at 2, he was non verbal and went to OT,speech and has much improved.
Due to relocation we had to change to a new DAN doctor 2, and our confusion on supplements has started.
We are trying to understand which supplement help more DAN 1 or DAN 2 or both?

What about a B complex with all the active B's in it like this
https://au.iherb.com/pr/Doctor-s-Best-B ... Caps/50940
and for all the minerals what about colloidal minerals or a food source of minerals which also has lots of other macro/micro nutrients like brewers yeast or chlorella or spirulina all available on iherb.

There is so many abnormal metabolic markers there you need a really good doctor to look at them.

Does giving ALA without GUT cleaning increases the Candida.

My opinion - neither. Those are just generic supplement recommendations that will not move a needle. While test reports are important, often they can be interpreted in multiple ways. For example, high lactate may mean a metabolic/mitochondrial disorder such as muscular dystrophy, which affects normal ATP production. It may also mean lack of oxygen due to low RBC or poor blood circulation. But high lactate is also produced during strenuous exercise. It may spike during blood draw when a child fights, which happens in my son's case. If you want to treat it, then give Creatine, which I don't see on the lists of both DAN's. Creatine helps my son to be more aware, and his lactate and pyruvate are always high (fights blood draw every time).

I mentioned several times here that the most important test is 24hr EEG. You need to see if there are seizures or abnormal EEG activity, which should be treated with AED's.

Besides EEG, I would recommend to focus on improving individual symptoms of your son. What are the problems: lack of language, focus, memory, cognition, social interaction, anxiety, tantrums, SIBs? I have a long list of supplements for each symptom. You have to try them to see which work. At the end of "My Supplements" first post, I have a current list of what my 8yo son is taking. I am seeing good results from Krill Oil, Vayarin, Creatine, Quercetin, FiberChoice Inulin, Bumetanide, Trileptal, Lamictal and Lexapro (for anxiety). In the past, Piracetam, Galantamine, Namenda and HBOT helped (I saw the most significant and lasting improvements from HBOT). Your son may respond better to other supplements and treatments - it is all individual. There is no single reason for autism, and that is why it is hard to find a cure for it.
