Help

Postby Diedra » Fri Jun 16, 2017 12:39 am

My son was diagnosed at 3 he is now 14 nonverbal ,I have never tried anything ,because always thought he was not capable because of his tantrums he has sometimes he has never used the computer he don't do anything he does use the bathroom by himself. He has a big appetite not a picky eater. He doesn't know how to write his name or anything. The teacher, and the aide at school don't feel like he is capable of doing anything so he just sits. If I tell him to do something he will. The tantrums happens sometimes hadn't figured out what triggers it. I felt like I gave up on him. I just want to know where to start I'm thinking about home school he hadn't learned nothing thus far. I know I'm the blame as well.

You start with a neurologist to check if there are EEG abnormalities or even seizures, which you don't see. Landau-Kleffner syndrome manifests as autism, but is a result of specific EEG abnormalities that are not visible to a human eye. If treated with corticosteroids and anti-seizure meds, LKS is curable. You may also want to visit a geneticist to check mutations. There are some mutations such as Fragile X or tubulus sclresosis which manifest as autism, but are explained genetically. You definetely want your neurologist to prescribe MRI test (in addition to the EEG test) to see if there are brain lesions or trauma or tumors or other structural abnormalities. In many cases, HBOT as a treatment may help.

this is excellent advice, I will no doubt be corrected if I'm wrong but I think the stats say that about 50% of autistic kids will have seizures.
On the bio-med side of things I would recommend getting fish oil and magnesium into him for starters
