Postby i-jerry » Mon Aug 21, 2017 6:15 pm

Hi, I received my son's 23 and me report tonight and just upload info to genetic genie. org and find out
the abnormal results are:

VDR Taq rs731236 AA +/+

MTHFR C677T rs1801133 AG +/-
MTRR A66G rs1801394 AG +/-
MTRR R415T rs2287780 CT +/-
BHMT-02 rs567754 CT +/-

CYP1A2 164A>C rs762551 CC +/+
CYP1B1 L432V rs1056836 GG +/+

GSTP1 I105V rs1695 AG +/-

I use orange instead of bright yellow
does anyone familiar with those report and please share your advice, many thanks! Jerry

Clean bill of health! Impressive! Ignore heterozygous mutations. They cause 30% reduction of gene activity. Homozygous result in 70% drop. But your VDR flagged mutation is actually common according to SNPedia: https://www.snpedia.com/index.php/Rs731236 Other +/+ mutations are pretty mild. If you want to get deeper, you need to check genes for immune and mental disorders:

Mental rs16944
Mental rs1800795
Mental rs2710102
Mental rs2538976
Mental rs7794745
Mental rs2143340
Mental rs38845
Mental rs1858830
Mental rs2237717
Mental rs28694718
Mental rs4129148
Mental rs53576
Mental rs2268491
Mental rs6311
Mental rs6313
Mental rs2270641
Mental rs4906902
Mental rs8043440
Mental rs878960
Immune rs1800629
Immune rs137854552
Immune rs7574865
Immune rs763361
Immune rs1695
Immune rs6457617
Immune rs2476601

In 23&me website, go to tools, raw data, cut and paste rs number and see what genotype you have. Then go to SNPedia, type the same rs number and see how important your mutation is. Remember that A=T and C=G. For example, if 23&me shows AA, it is the same as TT. CT is the same as GA. All it means is that the same gene position has C in one of the two copies of DNA and G in the other. One DNA copy id from farther and the other is from mother. Each DNA copy is double stranded, two strands are connected through their bases, C always connects to G and A to T. So, if you read in the report AA, it means that the opposite ends of the strands are TT, same thing. SNPedia besides explaining pathogenics, also shows you demographics of a mutation as a bar chart. Anything above 40% in your population group can be ignored.

What really helped me to interpret my genes raw data is NutraHacker. But they will charge you some money. From my opinion it is worth it. There is another site called promethease. However, I prefer NutraHacker because it gives supplements recommendation. There should be other sites but I only tried those two.
Good luck

Hi father of 2, many thanks for your in detail explanation. I'll check on SNPedia and hope I could find something to address it. Do you have any recommendation about his VDR issue? I give him 2500mg*2 D3&K2 a day since last June, but doesn't show much difference on it.

Hi Marya, thank you for the web and I'll do it tonight, does the supplements recommendation is in very details? I just link my son's result with Yasko's web and there are plenty of supplement list and it really scared me :?:
