Hi,
My son is low-functioning .He is 6 years old but functions at a 2 year old level. He has single words.Does not join words to make sentences.I have done most bio-med(GFCF,hard HBOT,various suppliments) under the care of a DAN.Nothing has worked so far.He is currently taking 5mg Namenda and Carnisone under the supervision of a neurologist.
He has cognitive issues.Cannot remember anything.Cannot answer questions.Has anyone done test for mitochondia ?All his genetic tests are normal. No seizure under 24 hr EEG.
Any recommendation would be helpful.
Thanks
SB

He will be fine, don't worry. If your son has cognitive and memory issue, I would advise you to focus on BDNF, NGF, NMDA receptors and Choline neurotransmitter. If he has anxiety, irritability and sleep disorders you would focus on Serotonin and GABA. I would also encourage you to clean the gut with probiotics or inulin, also try veggies juice.
In the end try to educate yourself more and more everyday about this syndrome. The last year I had no idea about it but I've tried very hard to learn and I'm doing well now.
Good luck!

you can do tests for mitochondrial activity with a neurologist, a metabolic specialist, or a MAPS doctor. Children with mito dysfunction do well on levocarnitine or full mitochondrial cocktail. Have you done tests to determine the cause? OATS, stool analysis, Amy Yasko's methylation?
You can go on TACAnow website - an incredibly helpful resource.

My son had all the tests done when he was under the supervision of DAN doctor. He was put on GFCF diet,MB12 injections, tons of vitamins etc.
The only test that has not been done is the Mito test
