A different childhood

Postby bestekarl » Thu May 29, 2014 5:11 pm

This book, A different childhood written by Iris Johansson, “the Temple Grandin of Sweden”, made such an impression on me that I sat down and spent a year translating it into English so that the parents of my autistic grandson Ian would be able to read it. It is an illuminating guide for parents, with vivid descriptions of the girl's autistic behaviors and fascinating descriptions of what was going on inside her head during those behaviors. It also tells the heartwarming story about how she came out of her autistic shell with the help of her father's unceasing creative efforts to teach her how to become "normal".
