The OASIS Guide to Asperger Syndrome, Advice, Support, Insig

Postby Jakesmom » Wed Nov 01, 2006 4:43 pm

I just bought a copy of "The OASIS GUIDE to Asperger Syndrome Advice, Support, Insight, and Inspiration"

It is wonderful and is full of great information. There is a section on special education and what are the best practices for children with Asperger Syndrome. It is written by Patricia Romanowski Bashe, M.S. Ed., and Barbara L. Kirby.

Barb is the Asperger Specialist that I spoke with about Jake and PE. She was very helpful. Patty is the woman that I have been speaking with about Jake's Vineland Scores. She has a M.S.Ed in special education of individuals with autism.

They both have children with Aspergers and this book really devotes itself to Aspergers. It doesn't lump Aspergers in with Autism. It does describe some of the similarities, but focusing completely on Aspergers.

There is also a section on ALL interventions and it explains all. They do not suggest which is best and give only scientific answers to some hard questions.
